NICE 3100P2

The NICE 3100P2 is an industrial benchtop or wallmount fanless with two available PCI slots, DVI and VGA output,and rich I/O offering. Powering the NICE 3100P2 is an Intel Pentium M procssor up to 1.8GHz.

Suggested Applications
The fanless design NICE 3100P2 is able to operate in harsh environment that beyond traditional computer limitation. The fan-less NICE 3100P2 is designed to operate in dusty and space limited environment, and its great thermal design is able to withstand wide temperature ranges. The protective chassis design makes the NICE 3100P2 a better vibration and shock tolerate machine.

For CNC automation, it is great to configure the NICE 3100P2 as a controlling server. The NICE 3100P2 is field tested and proven, the fanless design, ample I/O ports and 2 PCI Expansion slots make this system a perfect replacement for legacy shoebox PCs. NICE 3100P2 has sufficient processing power from its Pentium M processor to integrate motion card, vision card or other type of control cards. Refer to the diagram below for other suggested applications.

ATX Mode for Remote Power Management
By supporting ATX power mode, the NICE 3100P2 series is ready for remote power management. For this purpose, the users can wake up, shutdown, or reboot the NICE 3100P2 series remotely by Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE) or Wake on LAN (WOL). With this convenient feature, administrators can remotely manage, update data and software, and maintain the client systems in the field.

In addition, the NICE 3100P2 series has a convenient external power switch that utilizes the Phoenix Contact with a 2-pin connector on the rear I/O. This feature is extremely useful when integrating the NICE 3100P2 series inside another encloruser or behind a wall. It allows you to then extend and mount the ATX power switch far away from the system so you can power on/off the system.

In case of power failures the NICE 3100P2 is capable of powering on after power failure via the BIOS.

Digital Display Quality with DVI Connection
The NICE 3100P2 series features both DVI and VGA connectors on the rear I/O for vivid color display in digital quality. The NICE series supports dual independent display while the DVI interface supports up to 1600 x 1200 pixels; it is ideal for large size LCD screens such as Digital Signage and Information Kiosk. The dual video outputs can also be used to support dual monitor applications.

On-board DC-to-DC Power Supply
The NICE 3100P2 series has an on-board DC to DC power supply designed for a wide range of power input options from +12 to +30 VDC. With the capability of accepting variable power input, the NICE 3100P2 series is suitable for various industrial environments.

PCI Expansion Capability
The NICE 3100P2 supports two reserved PCI slot for convenient system expansion for equipment controller cards, motion automation cards, or device sensor devices, making the NICE 3100P2 a great choise for industrial environments.

Intel Pentium M Processor

The Pentium M processor is a low-power version of the desktop-oriented Pentium 4, as well as being a heavily modified version of the Pentium III Tualatin design. Unlike the Pentium 4 and 3 the Pentium M is optimised for power efficiency, a vital characteristic for lower power consumption applications. Running with very low average power consumption and much lower heat output than desktop processors, the Pentium M runs at a lower clock speed than the laptop version of the Pentium 4 (The Pentium 4-Mobile), but with similar performance - For example a 1.6 GHz Pentium M can typically attain the performance of a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4-M.

Fanless System, for ultimate reliability

Fanless Systems are great for environments where dust and dirt predominate and are ideal for locations requiring silent operation. Our systems utilize heat pipe technology and aluminum fins for passive cooling. The absence of moving fans reduces the failure rate of systems in harsh environments.

In addition to being fanless this system offers a sealed enclosure from the elements. Even in the most clean and climate-controlled environments, dust and potentially conductive debris will be infused into the unit over time. The picture to the left shows a unit that was returned for service after approximately two years of operation in a computer room environment (not generally considered to be a harsh environment). Infused debris can cause bridging of circuits due to conductive material coming to rest across insulating barriers. Alternately, dust build up acts as a reservoir for ionic contaminates and moisture entrapment from humidity. Over time, these can enable the growth of conductive dendrites that may ultimately bridge insulating barriers
