Dual PCI Express Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Controllers

The PCI Express standard is a natural evolution of the ubiquitous PCI bus architecture. It replaces the parallel bus structure of PCI with a serial 2.5 GHz bus. Its low pin count enables a new generation of smaller form factor computing devices, while its improved speed reduces the bottlenecks typically associated with the legacy 32-bit parallel PCI bus. PCI based Gigabit Ethernet ports in the past were either overloaded or were bogged down by the PCI bus. Functioning on a PCI Express bus allows for true wire speed without creating a bottleneck in the bus for other onboard devices.
